“Let us adhere to the basic functions and confines of public education so as to not infringe on any parents right to raise their children exactly how they see fit.”
~ Nicole Konz
• Strong academics focusing on the basics of math, reading, writing, and civics
• Parental choice to direct their child’s health and education - no mandates!
• Fiscal responsibility and a strong budget
• Fighting the agendas attempting to overtake basic education
• Board accountability and transparency to the public
• Setting high expectations that reflect the premier school district we are
Parents are the primary educators & caregivers of their children and should always have the right and the freedom to choose what's best for their families!
Anything that gives parents more choice makes them necessarily more involved, and thus more informed and capable, in making wise and educated decisions for the upbringing of their children.
We must bury this pervasive and unsubstantiated fear present in our world, and instead take hold of rationality, truth and liberty to rise up and build the best possible life for each of our children.
Everything I do is about fighting for truth and liberty.
We no longer live in times where we can keep our head down and ignore the enormity that lies before us.
I believe in seeking the heroic. How can students maintain hope and focus on the future when they’re being bombarded with a culture telling them their sole identity is being victimized and having anxiety about every facet of life?
When we hone in on facilitating academics for students and families, and leave aside the fear, confusion and division caused by CRT, covid, and gender identity, the students will thrive!
Any extraneous focus on our differences and the misguided attempt to draw attention to them has no place in the educational system, and more importantly only breeds division, victimhood, lack of accountability and reduction of morals & values.
Furthermore, every attempt to draw attention toward policies and ideologies in schools leads us further away from the goal of fostering educational excellence in the core areas of study necessary to complete schooling with competency and a sense of responsibility and confidence.
When we minimize ourselves with labels that don’t encompass our whole being, we are selling ourselves and our children short.
Diversity is a hallmark of humanity. None of us are created the same, and our individual uniqueness is inherent in life. We must do nothing more than accept reality. We must simply honor each other, learn from each other and live with each other as a community of individuals with unique perspectives and abilities.
We must set a standard where basic respect and being considerate of others is expected.
In particular cases where that is not maintained, the offending person must be disciplined swiftly and firmly.
We do not need to make everyone accept every part of every other person. That is removing our freewill, personal integrity and value system.
We must welcome adversity in life, for that is how we grow and mature into strong & wise adults who can face every new challenge and find purpose and meaning our own way.
My husband and I are 19-year residents of Colorado Springs and have raised our two daughters in D20 schools since 2009.
I have a BS in Business Management & Policy with 20-years experience in asset and business management, fiscal responsibility & budgeting.
With a 25-year history in youth ministry, religious education & servant leadership, I am passionate about raising up our next generation with integrity, personal responsibility & courage.
I take seriously my call to teach & serve youth & have enjoyed volunteering regularly in D20 schools & our church for many years. I look forward to maintaining this focus on the school board, in partnership with you – the parents & residents of Academy School District 20.
If we join together and make our voices heard, we can fight for the change we want to see!
Voting serves all of us. Thank you for your commitment.
